The word “SANATAN”
“SANATAN” is a Sanskrit word that denotes that
which is ANADI (Beginningless), ANANTA (Endless) and does not cease to be, that
which is eternal and everlasting.
Sanatan Dharma represents a code of conduct and a value system
that has spiritual freedom as its core. Any pathway or spiritual vision that accepts
the spiritual freedom of others may be considered part of Sanatan Dharma.Sanatan Dharma says that,
“Sarve Bhavanti Sukhinah, Sarve Santu Niramayah
Sarve Bhaerani Pashyanti, Ma Kashchid Dukh Bhag Bhaveta”
Means let everyone without distinction be happy, let everyone be without any ailment.
Let everyone look like ARYA i.e. gentle, noble and righteous. Let there be no one
to have any share of sorrow or grief.
Sanatan Dharma stresses upon action. It believes in theory
of KARMA. The upnishad says, “you are what your driving desire is, as your desire
is, so is your will, as your will is, so is your deed, as your deed is so is your
destiny” .Thus we create our own destiny through thoughts and actions. So the massage
goes that there is no joy in the finite, there is joy only in the infinite. Nothing
can satisfy us but reunion with our real self which in fact is attainment of “SAT-CHIT-ANAND”.
